Miracles and Mysteries: Matthew 8-13Sample

We’ve all heard it before—and maybe even said it ourselves: “I’ll do better” or “I’ll be better”. When confronted by the consequences of falling short, hurting someone, or doing something wrong, is it really enough to clean up your life and just “do better”, or do you realise that you might need something greater?
Jesus describes an unclean spirit leaving a person, only to return with seven more spirits, making things worse than before. The warning is clear: moral improvement isn’t enough. A person may temporarily escape sin or addiction, but without Christ filling the void, they remain vulnerable to falling back into the patterns of sin.
The glory of Jesus is seen in His all authority over evil. He doesn’t just drive out demons from a person—He restores, fills, and secures that person. Israel had experienced religious reform before, yet without true repentance and faith, their condition only worsened.
Today, ponder this: Are you just trying to fix your life, or are you surrendering it fully to Jesus?
