Effectiveness in life and ministry does not occur by chance; you will need to make intentional decisions. Discipline is not accidental; it is always the product of conscious choices. Daniel purposed in his heart not to defile himself with the king's food (Daniel 1:8). This deliberate choice laid the foundation for his remarkable spiritual journey and ministry effectiveness.

Joshua likewise presented the Israelites with a decisive challenge, declaring, “Choose you this day whom ye will serve…but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD” (Joshua 24:15). Discipline always starts with a firm decision—a commitment to choose God's way above convenience or popular opinion.

I often tell people that every moment offers a choice to either align with God’s principles or conform to worldly standards. You cannot develop spiritual discipline without deliberately choosing to pursue it. It requires daily decisions to prioritise prayer, study the Scriptures, and consistently obey God, even when it is difficult.

Reflect today on the decisions you have been making. Are you consciously choosing a disciplined spiritual lifestyle, or have you allowed circumstances and convenience to dictate your choices? Remember, discipline begins with a choice—decide today to walk intentionally in the paths that honour God.
