CHARACTER PRECEDES CHARISMA

Many believers focus on charisma—outward expressions of gifting or personality—but true spiritual effectiveness flows from character. God emphasizes clearly, “for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart” (1 Samuel 16:7). Your character, the true inner condition of your heart, is what qualifies you to sustain the grace and anointing God places upon your life.

Spiritual effectiveness must never be measured solely by external charisma. Do not forget the principle: charisma may open doors, but only character will keep those doors open. Good fruits come from good character. Jesus said clearly, “Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit” (Matthew 7:17). Your effectiveness in life and ministry is ultimately determined by the quality of your character, not your gifting or skills alone.

As believers, we must intentionally allow God to develop our character. This development happens as we consistently surrender our hearts to God and His Word. Always have this at the back of your mind: when your character is aligned with God’s Word, your gifts become genuinely impactful and sustainable.

Take time today to evaluate your character. Is your internal life matching your outward expressions of faith and service? Seek to cultivate character through consistent obedience to God's Word, prayerful living, and genuine fellowship with Him.
