Day 1: The Call to Love Deeply

In a world that often prioritises self-interest, the call to love others deeply can seem countercultural. Yet, as followers of Christ, we are invited to live a life of love that mirrors the sacrificial love of Jesus.

This love is not surface level or only done when it’s convenient; it is earnest and enduring. It is a love that forgives and covers over wrongs, reflecting the grace we have received from God.

As we meditate on 1 John 4:19, "We love because he first loved us," we are reminded that our capacity to love others is rooted in God’s love we have experienced in Jesus.

Today, consider how you can express this deep love to those around you. Is there someone who needs your forgiveness or a gesture of kindness?

Let your actions be a testament to the transformative power of God's love in your life.

Going Deeper
Theologically, this call to love deeply is rooted in the concept ofagape love, which is selfless, sacrificial, and unconditional. Agape love is the highest form of love, as demonstrated by Jesus on the cross (John 15:13).

It is a love that seeks the well-being of others without expecting anything in return. As we grow in our understanding ofagape love, we are challenged to reflect this divine love in our relationships, embodying the heart of Christ in our daily interactions.
