Live and Let Live

DAY 1 OF 10

1. From Pigs to Princes (Part 1)

Fatherly Forgiveness

Men are often referred to as pigs by our female counterparts. Sometimes it is because of our household manners, sometimes because of the way we treat others. Especially the women in our lives. However, we can change all that by coming back to one simple realization…

Yes, men are often called pigs. Yet we were called to be princes. Not necessarily spoiled princes with silver spoons in our mouths. But the princes who slay the dragons, rescue our princess and serve our King Jesus with honor and integrity.

If you’ve seen the 2004 epic film, Troy, then you know there’s quite a difference between the two princes of Troy. Paris, the younger, goes from flings with one woman after the other, eventually at the cost of their kingdom. The older brother, Hector, on the other hand, leads men in battle, secures peace treaties, saves his brother’s life, loves and serves his family, and eventually lays down his life for his country. Paris is quite a pig, but Hector is a true prince of Troy.

As sons of God, we are called to be His princes, instead of worldly pigs. And the best way to get out of the mud and into marching formation is realizing who you were meant to be and getting back to your Heavenly Father.

Stop playing with the pigs and start leading the life you were meant for! We’ve all been prodigals; it’s time to be princes! So, let’s head back to the Heavenly Father’s throne, where we will receive mercy and find grace (Hebrews 4:14-16). We all need God’s forgiveness. His forgiveness brings our lives back on track.

When we want to stop living like prodigals and get out of the pigsty, asking forgiveness and repenting from our own sinful acts is the first step on our course correction to start living like God’s princes.

Let’s Live and Let Live:

  • In which ways do we as men often act like worldly pigs instead of godly princes?
Think about how we treat friends, family, wives, colleagues and strangers.
  • How can truly accepting God’s forgiveness result in our improved behavior?
  • What is the difference between receiving God’s mercy and finding His grace?
Day 2

About this Plan

Live and Let Live

The Gospel is about living for Christ and letting others find their lives in Him as well. By digging deeper into the Sermon on the Mount and its correlation to the Prodigal Son, we rediscover what it means to live and let live!
