Embracing Your Identity as a Daughter of the King Through Infertility

DAY 3 OF 8

Day 3: Living in Relationship, Not Religion

Many of us were raised with the idea that our worth is tied to our actions. We may have been taught that if we follow the rules and check off all the right boxes, we would be loved and accepted. Unfortunately, many of us bring that mindset into our relationship with God, believing that our standing with Him depends on following a set of rules, doing enough good deeds, or striving to be perfect. But that is religion, not relationship.

Religion is performance-driven. It's about obeying rules out of fear, guilt, or the desire to earn God's love. In contrast, a relationship with God is rooted in love, grace, and the truth that you are accepted not because of your actions but because of what Jesus did for you on the cross. He became the ultimate sacrifice, setting you free from the law and inviting you into a personal, intimate relationship with Him.

In the Old Testament, the Israelites were bound by strict laws and rituals. They had to perform sacrifices and follow every rule to maintain their connection with God. But Jesus changed all of that. Through His blood, He established a new covenant—one that is not about rules and performance, but about love and grace.

Imagine a relationship with someone where you constantly feel the need to prove your worth through actions. The pressure would be overwhelming. This is how many of us approach God—believing that if we do enough, pray enough, or follow enough rules, we'll be loved and accepted. But God desires intimacy, not performance.

He wants you to approach Him out of love, not duty. Just as you would spend time with a friend or loved one out of desire, not obligation, God invites you to spend time with Him in the same way. Your love for Him will grow when you realize that you don't need to perform for His approval—you are already loved because of who you are in Christ.

Activation:
Take a moment to reflect on your relationship with God. Do you find yourself striving or feeling like you need to earn His love to become a mom or have a baby? Think about the way you spend time with Him. Is it driven by love or obligation? Duty or delight? Think about one thing you can do this week to cultivate a deeper, more intimate relationship with Him.

Declaration:

  • I am accepted by God not because of my performance but because of His love for me.
  • I choose to live in relationship with God, not religion.

Takeaway:
Your identity as God's daughter is not based on performance, but on love. Living in relationship with God means accepting His love freely without trying to earn it. As His daughter, you are invited into a loving, intimate relationship with Him—one not based on rules, but on grace and love. You can rest in the truth of knowing that you are loved because you are His.
