Holy Week: Journey With JesusSample

The Silence of Saturday
HOLY SATURDAY – The crowds had scattered. The disciples had fled. The stone had been rolled into place.
For the first time since creation, the Word of God was silent.
Jesus entered the world in the darkness of Mary’s womb and now, he lay in the darkness of Joseph’s tomb. The one who spoke light into existence was now shrouded in death’s shadow.
What was the world like on that silent Saturday?
A world without Jesus.
No healer to touch the sick.
No teacher to reveal the truth.
No shepherd to seek the lost.
No savior to forgive the sinner.
For those who followed him, hope lay buried behind a sealed tomb. Had it all been for nothing? Had they been wrong? Was this really the end?
We know what they did not. We know that Sunday is coming. But let’s not rush ahead just yet. Let’s sit in the weight of Holy Saturday. Let’s feel the ache of a world without Jesus. Let’s recognize how desperate we are for his presence, his love, and his mercy.
Because when the stone is rolled away, we will know—we never want to live in a world without Jesus again.
