Whom Do You Seek - EasterSample

Having someone, with whom you have shared a deep relationship, leave your life forever is tough! Especially if video or phone calls are not an option.

Jesus wants His friends to be ready for when He is gone. He knows He is leaving His friends in a world who hate Him and by association hates them. He knows they will be frightened and confused.

But, Jesus promises to send someone remarkably wonderful in His place — a Helper, Comforter, Guide and Teacher. This Helper is not given to just anyone — only to those who meet His conditions: love for Jesus and obedience to His commands. This requirement for receiving the Helper is not just a shallow affection for Jesus or mindless rule keeping. Repeatedly in today’s passage we read that the Holy Spirit will come to the people who love Jesus and keep His word.

This Spirit guide from Jesus, has no physical body but He makes His home within us. In ways beyond our finite understanding He is Jesus and He facilitates the very love and obedience He is seeking from us.

These verses describe the most wonderful aspect of the new life we have come into, and it is this: God Himself is living within us, enabling us to grow to be more and more like Him.

Today, ponder this: The Holy Spirit is our Instructor. Spend some time worshipping Jesus and ask the Holy Spirit what He wants to teach you today.
