One Another: Encourage One AnotherSample

Day 3: Speaking Life
Devotion
Our words hold incredible power. Proverbs 18:21 tells us that the tongue has the power of life and death. This means that what we say can either build up or tear down. As followers of Christ, we are called to speak life into those around us. This means choosing words that uplift, encourage, and inspire.
Consider the impact your words have on others. Are they life-giving, or do they sometimes cause harm?
Today, make a conscious effort to speak words of encouragement and love. Pray for the Holy Spirit to guide your speech, so that your words reflect the heart of God. Whether it's a simple compliment, a word of thanks, or a heartfelt prayer, your words can make a difference.
Let us be a people known for our life-giving speech, reflecting the love of Christ in all we say.
Going Deeper:
Theologically, speaking life is connected to the concept of the Logos, the Word of God, as seen in John 1:1-4 (ESV): "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him, and without him was not anything made that was made. In him was life, and the life was the light of men."
Our words should reflect the creative and life-giving nature of God's Word, bringing light and life to those around us.
This plan is based on a sermon preached by Pastor Petrea Taylor.
