Have you ever been listening to music on wireless headphones and walked too far away from your phone? Suddenly the music began to cut out or it even stopped completely, and you had to move closer to your phone and reset the connection.

When I think about listening to God, I sometimes imagine myself “connecting” to His voice. I have to move closer to Him and focus on reestablishing my connection until I can hear Him clearly.

The simple prayer “Jesus, give me wisdom and guidance” is about connecting with Jesus. It’s about intentionally, carefully listening to His voice and hearing Him clearly. Often the Holy Spirit will remind you of a verse in the Bible that gives you wisdom and direction for whatever situation you’re going through.

What wisdom do you need from God today? What areas need His guidance? What questions fill your heart, and what answers are you looking for?

Don’t be in a hurry to rush into your day. Don’t let your attention be captivated by your plans for the day or your social media feed. Instead, move closer to Jesus. Listen for His voice. Fix your eyes on Him and let Him speak to you. Keep a humble, open heart that is ready to listen and obey.

Jesus is there, ready to give you the wisdom you need. You simply have to ask in faith and listen for the answer.
