At the end of Habakkuk's interaction with God, all of His questions were not answered.
And the answers he did get were not ones he wanted. God was not going to rescue Jerusalem as the prophet hoped but planned for an enemy army to be His rod of discipline against the people He loved.
What Habakkuk did get was a greater understanding of God!
He came to understand that God was not indifferent to all that was happening. God was intimately involved in bringing about His own glory and the ultimate good of His people.
Stepping into God's presence shaped the frustrated and discouraged prophet into a prophet singing the praises of the Sovereign God in whom he was secure. (Habakkuk 3:16-19)
If you are ready to be transformed through a personal and growing relationship with God, here are some next steps.
1. Choose a plan for bible reading so you are not tempted to "cherry-pick" the Scriptures. Begin with as little as a few verses a day and no more than a chapter a day. Use S.P.R.U.C.E. as a guide to help foster understanding and intimacy in God's presence. One of the Gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luke or John, is a great place to begin.
2. Learn more about aspects of growing your relationship with God through one of our other World's Biggest Small Group Studies, like Everyday God, Prayer, or Who Is Jesus. All of our studies can be found in our WBSG Library. Our study resources are always free.
4. Discover what God reveals about Himself, his name, nature and plans, by listening to our 5-minute God Revealed Podcast.
3. To help you grow in seeing how God's Word is relevant to your daily life, order a copy of our 365-devotional, Everyday God. Each day you will interact with God by reading His word, seeing it in context, considering an application, and engaging God in conversation with our conversation question of the day. You an order a copy here.
Remember, even 10 minutes a day, spent thoughtfully engaging with God, will not only transform your relationship with Him, it will transform you!
