Deepen Your Worship: A 5-Day Devotional on Pursuing God’s PresenceSample

DAY 4: SAY AMEN
2 Corinthians 1:20 (NIV)
For no matter how many promises God has made, they are "Yes" in Christ. And so through Him the "Amen" is spoken by us to the glory of God.
Revelation 3:14 (NIV)
These are the words of the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the ruler of God’s creation.
--
The word "amen" comes from a Hebrew word meaning "truth" or "certainty." When we say "amen," we are declaring "This is true" or "Let it be so." It's a powerful affirmation of faith and submission to God's will.
Throughout the Bible, we see God's people respond to who God is and what God says with this declaration of agreement. As we sing "Say Amen," we join this great affirmation of the ages—acknowledging who God is and wholeheartedly saying Yes to Him.
He is holy—set apart and infinitely perfect.
*We say amen.*
He is our Creator—the One who breathed everything into existence.
*We believe He is.*
He is our Savior—The One who redeems us. The only God who saves.
*We say amen.*
God is with us—close through every season.
*We believe He is.*
Jesus Christ is our rock—an unshakable strength when everything else trembles.
*We say amen.*
He is steadfast—constant and unwavering in His love.
*We believe He is.*
He is faithful to His promises—His word never fails.
*We say amen.*
As Charles Spurgeon wrote: "I have learned to kiss the wave that throws me against the Rock of Ages." Our affirmation isn't dependent on favorable circumstances—we say "amen" in both sunshine and storm.
This song reminds us that "come wind, come rain, this hope won't fail."
Our confidence is not in what our eyes can see—whether trial or triumph—but in the presence of God who is always good, always true, and always faithful. We say amen to our God who never fails.
N.T. Wright explains: "Hope is what you get when you suddenly realize that a different worldview is possible, a worldview in which the rich, the powerful, and the unscrupulous do not after all have the last word."
Saying amen to God goes beyond acknowledging theological truth. It's more than an echo of tradition—it's aligning our hearts with His flawless character and powerful purpose. We choose to trust His wisdom and promises even when we can't see evidence of them in the moment. To say amen is to lean into God's perfection and His perfect will.
In Revelation 3:14, Jesus is called "the Amen, the faithful and true witness." Christ Himself is the Amen—the definitive, unchangeable affirmation of God's truth and God's promise. When we say amen, we join our voices with the divine Amen. We align our hearts with the Father's perfect will and stand with saints across the ages in this powerful declaration to the glory of God.
Today I want to encourage you to say "amen" to God. A declaration that resounds throughout your whole life, and may you see the blessing of His promise saturate every part of your day.
Prayer:
Lord, I say amen to everything You are. God of all grace and power and majesty. In everything I choose to lean into Your promise, knowing that You are faithful to do what You said You will do. In Jesus' name, Amen.

2. When we say amen, we are agreeing with Him. Is there an area where you are struggling to say yes to Him right now? I encourage you to commit it to Him.
3. What aspect of God's character are you believing to be reflected in your life today as you say amen to Him?
