Reflection and Awe: Lent's PurposeSample

Reflection and Awe: Lent's Purpose

DAY 16 OF 47

Be Anxious for Nothing

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
- Philippians 4:6-7

Don’t worry - easy to say, less easy to do.

In a world filled with uncertainties—relationship tension, political and economic challenges, and conflicts near and far—it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. But amidst the chaos, we can find peace in the unchanging truth that God holds it all. He is sovereign over every situation, and His provision is steadfast, even when the world around us feels unstable.

What a beautiful promise! Prayer is not just a spiritual exercise; it’s an invitation to exchange our worries for God’s peace. Jesus reminds us in Matthew 6:31-33 not to be anxious about our needs but to “seek the Kingdom of God above all else” because our Heavenly Father knows exactly what we need.

God’s provision isn’t limited to material needs—He also meets our emotional, spiritual, and relational needs. In Psalm 23:1, David declares:

The Lord is my shepherd; I have all that I need.

When we turn to God in prayer, we are reminded of His faithfulness and ability to provide for us in every way.

Practice Gratitude: Thank God for His past provision, trusting Him to care for your future. Keep a gratitude journal to track answered prayers.

Rest in His Peace: After you’ve prayed, choose to trust God. Meditate on His promises, like Isaiah 26:3:

You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you.

As we journey through Lent, may your prayers lead you into deeper trust and greater peace, knowing that God is your Provider and Sustainer. Take a moment to stand in reflection and awe—giving your concerns to the Lord. He hears you and holds you in His hands.

Pour out all your worries and stress upon him and leave them there, for he always tenderly cares for you. - 1Peter 5:7 (TPT)

About this Plan

Reflection and Awe: Lent's Purpose

Lent is incredibly significant for many Christians across the globe. Traditionally marking the time before Easter, Lent is a period of preparation—a chance to focus and center ourselves toward the sacrifice of Jesus. As Advent prepares us for celebrating Jesus’ birth at Christmas, Lent is Easter’s Advent—a countdown to the expression of our faith in Christ’s death and resurrection. On this incredible journey, we will explore key topics like fasting, prayer, servanthood, freedom, and hope in Christ.
