Finding Freedom: The Lord’s PrayerSample

Lead Us Not Into Temptation
In the final phrases of the Lord's Prayer, Jesus teaches us to pray: "And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one." These words reveal both our vulnerability and God's protection.
Life is filled with choices and challenges that can either draw us closer to God or pull us away from Him. When we pray these words, we're acknowledging our need for divine guidance and protection. We're saying, "Father, guide my steps away from situations that might compromise my faith. Help me choose paths that lead to life, not destruction."
Notice that this prayer doesn't just ask for protection from temptation - it also seeks deliverance from the evil one. Jesus knew we face a real enemy who actively works against our spiritual growth. Satan's strategy hasn't changed since the Garden of Eden: he wants to make us doubt God's goodness and question His commands.
But here's the good news: we don't face these battles alone. The same God who created the universe stands ready to defend and protect us. When we feel weak, He is strong. When we're uncertain, He provides wisdom. When we're under attack, He is our shield.
This prayer reminds us that spiritual warfare isn't fought through our own strength. Victory comes through dependence on God. When we submit ourselves to God and resist the devil, he must flee. Our Father is greater than any force that comes against us.
Reflect:
- What areas of your life feel most vulnerable to temptation right now?
- How can you be more intentional about seeking God's guidance before making decisions?
- Thank God for His protection and ask for His strength to stand firm in your faith today.
