Drawing Closer: An Everyday Guide for LentSample

Day 17 - Confession Is A Good Thing
Sometimes, we find ourselves rationalising our sin. Here's what it might sound like;
- "It’s not as bad as someone else..."
- "My good deeds cancel out my bad ones..."
- "I’m mostly a good person..."
John makes it clear that we all sin. To think otherwise is to live in the dark, and that is not where we want to be!
We can be hesitant to bring our sins into the light. But confession brings freedom. It releases grace, which is the empowering presence of God, and John reminds us that if we confess, He is faithful and just to forgive us.
Confession is something to run towards, not run away from. It should be a part of our everyday and when we confess, we can be confident that God will forgive and purify us.
What do you need to confess today? How will you make confession a part of your time with God?
