Leading With Faith in the Hard PlacesSample

Day 5: Humility – The Strength in Surrender
James 4:10 (NIV)
“Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.”
Humility is the foundation of servant leadership. The more I have grown in leadership, the more I have realized that true strength is found in humility. There have been times when I thought I had all the answers, only to be humbled by the wisdom and insight of the community I was serving.
Reflection Question: How is God inviting you to lead with humility today?
Prayer: Lord, teach me to walk in humility. Remind me that leadership is not about being first but about serving others well. Keep my heart focused on You, and let me lead in a way that honors You. Amen.

About this Plan

Leadership in nonprofit work, social impact, and social work demands resilience, courage, tenacity, kindness, and humility. We often stand in the gap—advocating, seeking justice, and restoring hope. But what happens when we feel exhausted, unseen, or burdened by losses? This 5-day devotional is for those in the trenches, leading with heart yet questioning if it’s worth it. Together, we’ll explore how God calls us to lead with strength and grace. May these words remind you—you are not alone, your work matters, and God sees you.
