Decide to Thrive: Youth EditionSample

The Priority Decision: Putting God First
Have you ever thought you were chasing the life you wanted, only to feel let down? Maybe you thought having the right friends, achievements, or fun experiences would make you happy… yet it didn’t. If you’ve ever felt this way, you’re not alone—and there’s a better way. The first step to building a life that truly thrives is deciding to put God first every day.
Why is this so important? Because whatever holds your hope will have your heart. If we chase things that don’t last, like success or popularity, we’ll eventually feel lost. But when we prioritize God, everything else in life finds its proper place.
Jesus said in Matthew 6:21, “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Choosing to put God first means making Him your treasure—the foundation of your life. It’s not always easy, but it’s the most important decision you’ll ever make.
Reflection: Where is your hope? Are you chasing temporary things, or are you putting your trust in God’s eternal promises? Are you building your life on the things of the world or the things of God?
