Living in Increase (Part 9) - Increase in HealthSample

Week 1: Mental Health
Governed by the Spirit
As we step into a new month, we are shifting our focus to increasing health. This week, we will be discussing the importance of mental health and how God’s Word can produce a sound mind within us.
Romans 8:6 says that the “mind governed by the flesh is death.” When anything or anyone outside of God influences our thoughts, it only leads to death. It may not lead to physical death, but it will undoubtedly lead to spiritual, emotional, and relational death. However, when the Spirit governs the mind, “life and peace” dwell in us. This means that every thought furthers God’s purpose in our lives.
I don’t know about you, but I want my mind to be governed by the Spirit! So, how do we do that? We simply fill our minds with God’s Word. We ask God to rule us. We recognize the thoughts that are unhealthy, and we replace them with truth from the Bible. We seek first God’s Kingdom (Matthew 6:33) and rely on the Spirit to bring life and peace to our minds.

Action Step: Identify any unhealthy thoughts. Write them down. Then, find a Bible verse that negates each thought. Write the Scripture down next to the unhealthy thought, and anytime it appears in your mind, speak that Scripture out loud!
