Reading With the People of God #9 - FaithfulnessSample

Memorization Challenge:
13 And now behold the king whom you have chosen, for whom you have asked; behold, the Lord has set a king over you. 14 If you will fear the Lord and serve him and obey his voice and not rebel against the commandment of the Lord, and if both you and the king who reigns over you will follow the Lord your God, it will be well.- Samuel 12:13-14
Primer:
In today’s readings, we reflect on God’s faithful judgment and the invitation to trust in Him. In 1 Samuel, the people of Israel recognize God’s hand in returning the Ark, while the Pharisees in John struggle to accept Jesus' authority. Both passages emphasize that God’s faithfulness is tied to His righteousness and His invitation to trust Him, even when His actions challenge our understanding.
Question to reflect on: How are you responding to God's faithful authority in your life, even when it challenges your perspective or understanding?

About this Plan

This is the ninth installment of a Bible reading plan following the lectionary pattern, with daily readings from the Psalms, Old Testament, and New Testament. This month features a daily memorization challenge centered on the theme of faithfulness, drawn from Samuel’s charge to the people as they prepare for their new king. Additionally, each day includes devotional primers to help prepare your heart and mind for the readings.
