God Is Love: 10 Days in the Book of JohnSample

The Great Commandment
When we ask the question, how far should we go in caring for one another, Jesus already gave us the clear answer: “Love each other just as much as I have loved you” (John 13:34 TPT). He left no excuses for our lack of love. How much grace should we offer each other? The same amount that Christ offers us. How many times should we forgive those who keep offending us? As many times as they do it.
None of us will do this perfectly, and perfection is, quite frankly, not the point. Peter instructed that we “constantly echo God’s intense love for one another, for love will be a canopy over a multitude of sins” (1 Peter 4:8 TPT). Love is the highest law in the realm of Christ’s kingdom, and it should be ours, as well. If we are moving in love toward one another, we will find that petty arguments become less important. Love is the standard, and it always will be. We will never grow out of it.
Lord over all, when I make excuses for my lack of love, bring me back to this. Ground me in your limitless mercy. It’s all that matters.
