A Year in Luke/ActsSample

On the road to Emmaus, two disciples come across Jesus (although they did not realize this at the time). Imagine how these disciples must have felt, the One who they thought really was the Messiah was prematurely and publicly killed. Tragedy strikes and reality just doesn’t seem to make sense anymore. They talk and walk.
Eventually, they stop for the night and as Jesus takes, breaks, blesses, and gives the bread they realize who He is. He then disappears, and they are reflecting on what happened. As they think back they say, “Did our hearts not burn within us while he talked with us on the road, while he opened to us the scriptures?” (v32).
