The Kid: An Advent Devotional for High SchoolersSample

Christmas looks different for everyone. Some families love Christmas, but it can be one of the most challenging times of the year for others. Maybe your family fights over differing values and viewpoints every Christmas, or someone consistently fails to show up for a holiday, or a loved one has recently passed. Whatever the reason, finding comfort and courage in Jesus is important.
That first Christmas, even Mary, His mother, needed to do just that! She was in an unknown, uncomfortable, and unexpected situation. She could’ve given up and given in, but instead, she trusted God's plan. Even when it meant leaving for a small town to give birth there, she went with courage and comfort because she trusted God’s plan.
This season, challenge yourself to do the same! As you face adversity or discomfort this Christmas, ask God to provide courage to face the struggle and comfort in God’s presence when you do.
