Leaving the False Self Behind

As you reflect on these past days, you arrive at a crucial crossroads: Will you live in the false self, trapped in sin, emptiness, and separation from God? Or will you embrace your true self in Christ—a life of purpose, hope, and freedom rooted in His love?

This question is not new. God asked the ancient Israelites the same question after He called them out of slavery in Egypt. They could cling to their old identity as slaves, or they could embrace their new identity as God’s chosen people. Watch this Lumo clip.

The Israelites wrestled with the choice God gave them – and often they chose wrong. Time and time again they listened to lies instead of God’s Word.

How often do we do the same in our relationship with Jesus? We have His promises and His presence, yet still we are haunted by the question, “Am I enough?”

God’s Word assures you: In Christ, you are enough. God has freed you from your slavery to the enemy’s lies. You are free from the need to hide beneath fig leaves.

In Christ, you can live in freedom. You can choose to put off your false self and put on your new nature, created to be like God. You can choose life.

Your identity is not a mystery: You are made in the image of the Creator and King of the world. Your truest self is God’s child.

Lord, I choose You. I choose Your truth over the enemy's lies. Fill my heart with Your Word and teach me to live as my true self in Christ. Amen.
