Spirit (S2-E5)

DAY 1 OF 4

Sin no more

In this episode of The Chosen, the paralyzed man celebrates the miracle of standing on legs that had been useless for thirty-eight years. After so long, being able to walk again must have felt unbelievable.

Yet while he celebrates, the Pharisees focus less on the miracle of his healing and more on the problem they see: someone healed him on the Sabbath. Instead of rejoicing with him, they interrogate him. Their concern is not the restored man before them, but the rule they think has been broken.

Later, Jesus meets the man again, and this time, He speaks words that carry weight far beyond physical healing:

“Sin no more, so that nothing worse may happen to you.”

Something worse? Worse than thirty-eight years of paralysis? Jesus’ words point to a deeper reality. Physical brokenness is painful, but spiritual separation from God is far more serious. Sin — missing the mark, turning away from God, living outside the relationship humans were made for — harms the soul more than any physical condition ever could.

Jesus’ words are not condemning. They are inviting. He is calling the man into a new life, a life aligned with the purpose God designed him for. The miracle was more than restored legs. It was an opportunity for a restored relationship.

So, what spiritual condition are you in?

Are you living out your purpose? Are you pursuing the relationship with God you were made for? Or are you missing your mark, perhaps going through the motions of faith, yet spiritually disconnected?

Jesus’ intention has always been deeper than outward, physical changes. His desire is to bring people into fullness of life with Him where purpose, identity, and direction are found.

Reflection Questions

  • Are you living in relationship with God? What does that look like?
  • What does Jesus’ instruction, “Go and sin no more,” say to you personally?
  • How can you turn toward Jesus in the areas where you feel disconnected from Him or off-track?

Prayer

Lord, true purpose and fulfillment is found in You. So often, I live for other things. I seek other purposes. Today, I am turning back to You again. Help me to see You and to follow where You lead. Amen.
