7 Days of Healing From AddictionSample

The Devil’s Deceptions
Even after your restoration from addiction, the Enemy’s mental daggers won’t stop. You can expect him to whisper, You were never really that bad. You’re not like all those other addicts. Now that you’ve been clean for so long, you’ll be able to control it.
The Devil may even start to convince you of his lies, leading you to believe you’re brilliant enough to outwit addiction. But the more you entertain the Devil’s lies, the more paralyzed you’ll become by your thoughts. You risk rationalizing your way right into a relapse.
Now and then, the Enemy might give you a brief reprieve from his attacks, but the closer you grow to Jesus, the harder he’ll work to build destructive paths into your life. He’ll find new and creative ways to tempt you back into sin and away from God’s work.
Quitting your addiction is only the beginning. The real challenge is to never start up again. You must never become complacent, even after years of sobriety. Stand firm on the highway to heaven through daily connection with Jesus and remaining vigilant in monitoring your thoughts. Learn to recognize the Enemy’s voice and identify his mental daggers to guard yourself from his deceptions. Seek Jesus, offer up your thoughts and actions to him, and live victoriously.
