Bro. Eddie Ministries: The Word Gives Instruction

Devotional
Many people think that it does not make sense to listen to a person who preaches the Word of God. That is why they eschew it when they hear somebody preaching it.

Christians are called to preach the Word of God no matter how people dislike it. We need to preach it whether they would hear or not. We must preach it whether in season or out of season. (2 Timothy 4:2). It does make sense in God’s eyes. And there a lot of reasons why we need to.

We need to preach the word of God because only by it can faith come. (Romans 10:17)

Faith plays a big role for people to get saved. It makes things happen. And what greater event can happen to us than to be saved? It takes faith to admit that we are sinners and that we need God to save us. Therefore we need to hear the Gospel and believe what it says about sin and us.

For the righteousness of faith said, “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart.” (Romans 10:8)

God speaks inside of us. He makes sure that we have heard about Him and about what He wants us to know. That is why we have no excuse.

The people of old time have no excuse because God sent people who would let them hear about Him. The Israelites in the Old Testament time heard it from Moses and the prophets. In the church age, God sent the apostles to preach about Christ the Savior. And that is the same message that we still hear today.

The Word of God also said, “That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.” (Romans 10:9-10, NIV)

Another reason to declare God’s Word is that, it is the only truth. The Word of God is the only thing that tells the truth about the condition of the people and the world. No other person holds the truth but God. In fact He is the truth. Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except by Me.” (John 14:6)

It is when we come to Him that we begin to know the truth. In that way we begin to see the real thing about us. The next thing is that we start to understand the world we live in. That it needs to admit it needs God to continue to exist.

We need to preach the Word of God because it brings healing and it rescues men from being destroyed. (Psalm 107:20)

We give the devil the chance to harm us when we sin. And when it happens, we need the Word of God to remind us of what we did. Thereby God helps us find out the sin we did. He convicts us so that we may confess our sins before Him, so that He can cleanse and forgive us. When this is done, He thwarts the devil’s plan to harm us. But this does not mean we are free from the attack of the enemy. It tells us rather that we need to arm ourselves with the Word of God.

What more can we get from paying attention to the Word? The blessing of God, whatever forms it has. Because He wants to bless the people. For every good thing that He wants them to have is revealed in His Word.

Reflection:
1. What did you feel the first time you heard God’s Word? Why?
2. When was the last time you shared God’s Word to others?

The Word of God does not lie.
