Daily Bible Reading—July 2024, God’s Guiding Word: Mercy and ForgivenessSample

July 27
Introduction
Psalm 38: Today’s reading describes the pain and isolation of one who is suffering from a grave illness, which the writer sees as a punishment for his sins. The writer confesses his sins and pleads for God’s help.
Today’s Key Verse: Psalm 38:15
I trust in you, O LORD; and you, O Lord my God, will answer me.
Reflect
What verses describe the psalm writer’s physical pain? To what does the writer attribute his illness? What does the writer say about his enemies? What verses express trust in God?
Pray
Loving and merciful God, you hear my groans when I am worn out, crushed, and in pain. Be near me, Lord God, when I cry out to you. I trust you to never abandon me. Surround me with your comforting and healing presence. Amen.
Tomorrow’s Reading
Psalm 40: A prayer of praise for God’s help.
