Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year OneSample

Remember Lot’s wife (Luke 17:32).
Why remember Lot’s wife?
The Bible records information about Lot concerning his ancestry and background. Yet we don’t know the same details about his wife. We are not even given her name. Sadly, the nameless woman didn’t have to die. The Lord gives her ample reasons to choose to abandon Sodom. She would have been among those kidnapped that Abraham rescues (Genesis 14:11-16). At that time, she may have been exposed to Abraham’s dealings with Melchizedek (Genesis 14:18-24). Moreover, Lot’s wife had the privilege to have Abraham in the family. Abraham is dubbed “the father of faith,” and Lot’s wife likely saw and heard about his trust in the living God. Nonetheless, this world’s system consisting of the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life captivates Lot’s wife, and its allurements kill her!
Employment Point: Don’t attach yourself to this world’s system, but the one to come.
