Do Not Forget! Some Crucial Things Every Christian Should Keep in MindSample

Keep in mind that Jesus Christ died for our sins
“Now I would remind you, brothers, of the gospel I preached to you, which you received, in which you stand, and by which you are being saved […] For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures...” (1 Corinthians 15:1-3)
In his first letter to the church of Corinth, the apostle Paul reminds his readers of the gospel they received. It is important that they stick to this message, since their salvation depends on it. And since the core message of the Bible does not change, his warning also applies to us: we too can only be saved if we believe and hold fast to the gospel. Of course, we then need to know what this gospel message entails. Paul mentions some key aspects.
The first is that Jesus Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures. This little phrase is packed with meaning. It says that Jesus was a real historical person (which many people dispute), and that He truly died in our place (which even more people doubt). Moreover, Paul says that all this happened “in accordance with the Scriptures”. Jesus’ death was part of God’s eternal plan of salvation, as it was revealed little by little over the centuries before Jesus’ birth.
These truths about Jesus’ death are not open to discussion. If you don’t believe this, you are not a Christian. This is key!
Paul is not speaking about theoretical truths only. He says that Jesus Christ died “for our sins”. Can you affirm this? Do you wholeheartedly believe that Jesus also died in your place, giving you eternal life? What does that mean to you?
