Seven Reasons to Not FearSample

No Fear of Death
“He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. The one who conquers will not be hurt by the second death.” (Revelation 2:11)
The first death we must face unless the Lord suddenly appears in glory. Let's stay prepared, anticipating it without fear, for Jesus has turned death from a dark cave into a path leading to glory.
What we should dread is not the first death, but the second death. It's not just the soul leaving the body, but the complete separation of the person from God. This is the ultimate death. It extinguishes all peace, joy, happiness, and hope. When God is absent, everything is lost. Such a death is far worse than ceasing to exist; it is existence without the life that gives existence its value.
Now, if by God's grace, we persist to the end and triumph in the glorious battle, the second death cannot touch us. We won't fear death and hell, for we'll receive an imperishable crown of life. This strengthens us for the fight! Eternal life is worth a lifetime of battles. To evade the pain of the second death is a pursuit worth fighting for throughout our lives.
Lord, grant us faith to overcome, and then grace to remain unharmed despite sin and Satan pursuing us!

About this Plan

‘Fear not!’ is an encouragement encountered often in the Bible. This series of devotionals explores seven reasons not to fear. They take you to the prophets, psalms, history of the Old Testament and encouragement found in the New Testament to convince you of God’s power over anything that may cause us to fear. These devotionals were written by the great preacher C.H. Spurgeon, and updated to modern English.
