God’s Story Is Our Story: From Genesis To JesusSample

Reflecting on the last week: Jews still pray this prayer on a daily basis. They hang tiny wooden signs on their doorposts to remind themselves of it. Perhaps there is something for us to learn from their practice. We too are called to love the Lord Jesus with our whole hearts, soul, strength and mind (Mark 12:30), but without regular reminders, we are easily distracted. The world is full of shouting voices, calling us to love anything but Jesus. The radio. Social media. Television. Friends. Everyone is shouting at us to trust this or that idol, this or that hope. But God speaks to us quietly through his Word. So, again, the call is relevant for us today: hear this, listen to this, remember this: Love the Lord Jesus with your whole life. This passage invites us to ask God’s Spirit to take his Word into our hearts, strengthen us to listen, confess and obey God’s highest calling: to love him with our whole lives.
