Daily Direction Reading Plan

DAY 336 OF 365

Fred Carter is a brilliant artist. He has drawn over 1,000 Bible pictures with North African features. He believes that is his calling. His gift has enabled millions of youths to identify with Bible stories. Fred is just one example of how God endows certain people with the ability to do certain things well. The Apostle Paul was another. God gave him the ability to take the Gospel message to Gentiles. When we first meet him in Scripture, he is a raving maniac intent on destroying the followers of Christ. On his way to carry out one of his vicious missions, Christ met him and chose him to be a missionary. God gave him abilities, which if yielded to God's Spirit would enable him to fulfill Christ's mission. God gave him a sharp mind to grasp theology and the ability to teach and write about it. He gave him the capacity to endure pain. His mission involved suffering; God knew that his example would benefit suffering believers who followed him. The man had inflicted pain on others; now his past evil deeds prepared him for his ministry. After years of study, he was ready to serve. Barnabas lured him to Antioch to teach. From there he launched three missionary journeys. God gives abilities to each of us. He wants us to use them to benefit people wherever we live. The question is will we use our abilities selfishly, or to benefit others.
