DAY 174 OF 365

Stephen Hawking, a noted British scientist, said in a recent book, “God did not create the universe.” How sad! Hawking, along with a few other scientists, chose to ignore an important reality. Humans lack the capacity to know everything. Some things we can only know by revelation. God has revealed Himself in a variety of ways. The design of the universe, including the complex human body, points to a Designer. We call that Designer, God. The unity and eternal truth we find in the Bible demand a supernatural God as its Author. Only God could conceive and execute the Messiah’s virgin birth, the miracles, the death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. The Apostle Paul is just one biblical witness to the reality of God and to the reliability of God’s revelation to us. In 2 Corinthians 4, Paul affirmed his faith in God by quoting the psalmist who said, “I believed in God, so I spoke.” Paul was so convinced of God’s existence and God’s plan to save humanity that he devoted his life spreading the Good News of the Gospel. He said, “We know that since God raised Jesus, He will also raise us with Jesus and present us to himself along with other believers.” In Paul’s mind, God is very real. With Paul, we affirm the truth of God’s existence. We believe the Gospel of Christ is our only hope of eternal salvation. We believe that even if some choose to ignore it.
