DAY 114 OF 365

If you have attended a graveside burial, you have likely heard the words, "Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on. They will rest from their labor, for their deeds will follow them." The amazing truth is that we who die having Christ as our Savior are blessed indeed. In this life, God's presence cheers and guides us through all kinds of circumstances —good and bad. Beyond the grave, we have a glorious future. God promises to give us new bodies that cannot die. Eternal bodies will enable us to live forever. Can you imagine being fully alive a billion years from now? We read this in 1 Corinthians 15. Paul says, "Let me tell you a wonderful secret God has revealed to us. Not all of us will die, but we will all be transformed. It will happen in a moment, in the blinking of an eye, when the last trumpet is blown. For when the trumpet sounds, the Christians who have died will be raised with transformed bodies. Then we who are living will be transformed so that we will never die. Our perishable earthly bodies must be transformed into heavenly bodies that will never die." Since God's people are destined to receive bodies that cannot die, we are doubly blessed. That is why Paul would say, "So my dear brothers and sisters, be strong and steady, always enthusiastic about the Lord's work, for you know that nothing you do for the Lord is ever useless."
