The Gospel of MarkSample

Mark 13 is a passage that many have read as talking about “End Times.” It is often referred to as the Olivet Discourse and also appears in Matthew 24 (and into chapter 25) and Luke 21. We are going to carefully work through the chapter this week. It might seem a bit information-heavy, but it is still a very important chapter to discuss. It can serve as a kind of case study for how we read Scripture. The goal of this week is for us to recognize:
- The importance of reading difficult passages carefully.
- The importance of bringing in context and the meta-narrative of scripture.
- The assumptions we often bring to Scripture without realizing.
