The Gospel of Mark

DAY 4 OF 112

In verses 12 and 13, Jesus is led by the Spirit into the wilderness. In the same way that Jesus identifies Himself with humanity through baptism, He identifies with Humanity through temptation. (Hebrews 4:15)

Mark highlights not how Jesus was tempted, but that He entered a period of testing and temptation for 40 days. This highlights the authority of Christ. He was with the wild beats and was served by the angels. He was recognized by all creation as Lord.

This reminds us that Jesus knows all temptations and yet remains sinless. He did the very thing we could never do.
