The Gospel of MarkSample

In verses 30 through 32, we see Jesus guiding His disciples into a much-needed time of rest and refueling. We see this practice become a spiritual discipline that appears frequently in Jesus’ own life. However, as we read about this teaching moment with Jesus, it is important to remember the context. The disciples have just returned from their first extensive solo mission. No doubt they have experienced many miracles and wonders, as well as an equal share of rejection and failure. Jesus’ leadership here seems to be a reminder of the caring heart of God. wants us to share our lives openly with Him, whether it be failure or joy.
