Armor of God - Book of Acts

DAY 1 OF 10

Invisible World

Bible story: Jesus ascends to heaven (Acts 1:4-11)

There is an invisible world around us and it is very real, even though we cannot see it. Just like how you cannot see the wind, but you can see how the trees move as the wind blows through the leaves, so it is in the spiritual world. One of the prophets of the Old Testament, Elisha, gives us a great example of seeing this invisible world. There is a battle about to start between Aram and Israel. (2 Kings chapter 6)

One night, the enemy soldiers surrounded the city, and when Elisha’s servant saw them, he was very frightened. But the prophet told his servant not to be afraid since there were more with them than with the enemy. Then Elisha prayed to open the servant’s eyes, and he looked and saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around them! God had a huge invisible army protecting his prophet! There is a spiritual battle waging around us, even though we cannot see it. The Bible makes it clear that Satan exists and is trying to get us to ignore the reality of the spiritual kingdom.

In today’s Bible story from the book of Acts, Jesus is taken up to heaven. Please believe me, heaven and hell are real. In this true historical account, after Jesus ascends, two angels appear to the disciples! It’s hard for us to imagine angels helping us or the devil attacking us, but these things are more real than the things we can see. Let us jump into this study on the Armour of God and learn more about this invisible world.

We are in a war, whether we like it or not. Therefore, let us put on the full Armour of God as we fight against the enemy!

"I choose to believe in this invisible world, and put on the full Armour of God."

Questions:

1. What evidence have you seen that the invisible world of both good and evil exist?

2. Have you seen others who have made mistakes and did not seem protected by the armor of God? Share some stories.

3. What do you think the spiritual battle around us is like?

4. Who gave the promise that Jesus would return the same way that He left?

5. Fill in the blank taken from Acts 1:8: You will be my witnesses in… ______________ _________________________________ _______. What does that mean to us today?

Day 2
