A Musical Devotion On Praise

DAY 5 OF 5

"How Should We Praise?"

As Christians, I think we’d all agree that praise is important. But, like I said in the beginning of this study, we often divide over the fine-print— in the “how things should be done,” area of the discussion. Some people believe our praise is to be done solemnly, others believe that praise is to be celebratory. Rather than divide over this, I would suggest we converge and hold conversation with one another. Scripture seems to think that both are equally a part of praise, and we should include both somber and celebratory aspects of praise.

Notice in today’s verses that God commands us to praise in reverence, humility, and sacrifice. These qualities seem to drive us in our actions to our knees. These actions are needed. However, we are also to contribute in praise frequently, energetically, and motivationally. These qualities seem to drive us to our feet. Both aspects are vital regarding our praise. The bottom line is that we ALL hold the responsibility to be prepared to worship God in our heart, and out of this should flow physical actions of praise that are best and most loving unto God, unto others, and thus reflected back into the health and betterment of our souls.
