Playbook: The Game Plan for Navigating TemptationSample

The world is full of temptations, or strong feelings to do things that go against what God has taught us is best. Some of us may feel tempted to cheat on tests, lie to our parents, or gossip about our friends. These temptations can cause a lot of frustration and anger. Even as we try to follow God’s instructions in the Bible, we all still feel tempted to do the opposite from time to time. The good news is that God knows we feel tempted in this way. Because God knew that we would all experience temptations, God sent Jesus to save us. Because of this, we do not have to feel ashamed about our temptations. We can make mistakes without fear that God will punish us for our wrongs. Although God sent Jesus to promise that God will not punish us for our sins, we still do experience consequences for our wrong actions in this world, but we do not have to fear consequences directly from God.
Next time you face temptations or the consequences of temptations, remember that your actions do not change the way God views you. God’s love for us is stronger than any of our temptations.
