One time I was telling a friend an elaborate story about something that happened to me earlier in the day. When I was almost done, my friend asked me a question about the story that showed me he hadn’t been listening the whole time. He asked me to go back to the beginning, but at that point, I was frustrated and didn’t want to continue the conversation. Has this ever happened to you? Have you ever tried to talk to someone, just to realize they weren’t listening? While some people in this world don’t want to listen, there is a God who wants you to talk. God wants to hear what is on your heart. God wants to know what is stressing you out or who is getting on your nerves. So how do we talk to God? We can talk to God every day through prayer. Prayer is our ability to connect and talk with God. Prayer welcomes God into our lives and allows God to give us wisdom for how to live.
If you have never prayed before or need a guideline, try saying this: “Dear God, thank you for being someone I can talk to whenever I need it. I am struggling with ____________. I need your wisdom in ________ situation. Please help me and guide me. It is in Your name I pray, amen.”
