What Jesus Said About Money and Provision

DAY 3 OF 6

Meditate on the Following Words of Jesus About Money

Mark 12:41-44 - And Jesus sat down opposite the treasury and watched the people putting money into the offering box. Many rich people put in large sums. And a poor widow came and put in two small copper coins, which make a penny. And he called his disciples to him and said to them, "Truly, I say to you, this poor widow has put in more than all those who are contributing to the offering box. For they all contributed out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty has put in everything she had, all she had to live on."

Luke 12:15 - Then He said to them, "Watch out! Be on your guard against all forms of greed; a man's life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions.

Revelation 3:17-18 - While not directly spoken by Jesus during His earthly ministry, it's a message from Him to the church in Laodicea: You say, 'I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing.' But you do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind, and naked. I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined by fire so that you may become rich, white garments so that you may be clothed and your shameful nakedness not exposed, and salve to anoint your eyes so that you may see.

Obedience: What is the Holy Spirit saying to you about your own thinking about money, the way you handle money, and your attachment to money? What needs to change? Take time to deal with this. It is possible that radical change would be necessary in your life.
