Milestones - Salvation, Baptism, CommunionSample

Have you heard the saying “You are what you eat”? Think of a delicious pizza fresh from the oven and imagine eating it when someone says, “You are what you eat.” The saying doesn’t make sense. You’re not a pizza. You don’t like handing out in cardboard boxes. There’s one person, however, who this saying might work for.
Jesus talked about Himself as bread. He wasn’t actually bread, but He used bread to represent things about Himself. When Jesus shared the Last Supper with His disciples, He explained that the bread would represent His body broken and that the cup would represent His blood. Remember, Jesus said these words before He died on the cross and rose again. The disciples would have heard Jesus call Himself bread before, but not in this way.
When we share communion, it means the same thing, just as Jesus described. The breaking of bread represents Jesus’ body broken and the cup represents His blood. Communion is remembering all that Jesus has done for us.
