Esther: God's Call on a QueenSample

The Book of Esther is steeped in Jewish history and tradition, still revered today. It is also saturated with Biblical truth, pointing to the sovereignty, providence, and provision of God. As you read today’s Scripture, take some time to consider/answer the following questions for personal growth and understanding.
1. Whose idea was it to gather young virgins from across the kingdom?
2. From what tribe did Mordecai, the Jew, descend? What do we know about the tribe of Benjamin?
·Who was Benjamin’s mother?
·What land were they given in the promised land? (Joshua 18:21-28) Which cities stand out to you and why?
·Gen. 49:27 describes the tribe of Benjamin as a “ravenous wolf”. What characteristic does that portray?
3. Esther has two names. What are they? Why does she go by two names?
4. Read Daniel 1:1-8. Discuss any similarities you see between Esther 2 and Daniel 1.
5. Make a list of all the ways you have seen God move behind the scenes, so far, in the book of Esther.
·Share with the group some ways in which God has moved in your life, behind the scenes, this year.
