The downside of technology is real and painful, and it is the far-reaching tentacles of technology—​directly or indirectly—​that have caused the majority of our work-life problems ... In the past, there was a closure on the end of every day ... It was called night. There also existed a closure on the end of every week—​it was called Sabbath ... Today there are no natural closures ... One rabbi suggests that the Sabbath is a day to stop our work, and it also is a day to stop thinking about our work. In Scriptures, the faithful not only disconnected for a Sabbath every week, but they also came apart ...
