Walk Humbly

DAY 2 OF 3

When we experience great injustices, our world can, understandably, shrink. We can get so focused on the pain and suffering that we don’t bring God into the picture. In wrestling with the evils of this world, we have to remember to wrestle with God, too. We can come to him in full transparency, share our questions and pain, and wrestle until confusion is replaced with truth. God was patient with Job, and he will be patient with you too!

When God spoke back to Job, he reminded him just how complex this world is but also how much bigger God is. Like Job, we learn to see that God’s scope of understanding is way beyond our comprehension. We must walk humbly with God.

We can never forget, no matter how close to God we draw or how knowledgeable we become, we will never have it all figured out. But walking humbly in our faith doesn’t show weakness or ignorance. It’s about respecting how big our God is. Keep this in mind as you read this passage from Isaiah.

Reflection Questions:

Like the prophet Isaiah warns, you probably never think yourself to be equal with God. But what is one way in which you need to humble yourself before God and let God bring strength to your weakness?

Isaiah mentions idols that people would turn to instead of God. When you are wrestling with suffering and injustice, what other things are you tempted to turn to?
