Everyone at some point in their lives needs the reminder to not be afraid, and this is the message Moses has for the Hebrew people before he dies. This message wasn’t just in a personal conversation, it was to this entire people group, and tucked in the middle of this encouragement is the reason why they didn’t need to be afraid: because God was with them. In other words, they weren’t alone. Fear has a way of getting to the heart of us and winning the war against fear can feel virtually impossible when we fight it on our own. That’s why Moses reminds ALL the people of Israel that not only are they facing this fear together, they are doing it with God by their side.

We all need someone on our team, someone in our corner, rooting us on and encouraging us. And guess what? Not only do you have someone in your corner, but that someone is God. How would your life look differently if you lived as though God was with you in everything you did? How would your attitude toward uncertain or frightening things be different?
