Real LifeSample

It feels like every wedding in the world has used this Scripture, right? So many couples use this particular set of verses to give some sort of a definition to the concept of love. The verses help to lay out what love actually is and what it shouldn’t be. It gives each of us a framework to try to understand a concept that isn’t always easy for us to grasp. Love can feel intangible, undefinable, or like something that we aren’t meant to understand fully. But if we don’t know how to define love, how do we know when we have it in our lives? And more, how do we know when we’re showing God’s love to others? Love is more than just an Earthly feeling; it’s a concrete gift given from God. God has given us the gift of defining this kind of love so that we can truly live out the calling that He has for each of our lives.
Read these verses again, but this time, try to apply them to your daily life. Where have you seen patience? When have you shown kindness to another person? How are you showing honor to others? It may be helpful to write this verse down somewhere close to you so that you can refer to it throughout the day as a reminder of what love you’ve received and what love you have to give.
