John knows he is writing to people who are very familiar with Jewish texts and stories. One of those is the book of Daniel, which is a book that is in part a narrative story and part prophetic visions. You’ll notice how similar this particular vision in Revelation is to Daniel, emphasising the spiritual battle that God and his angels fight. The main point: good conquers evil!

About this Plan

The apocalypse ("uncovering" in Greek) that John receives reveals the nature of the world as it is and will one day be. Amidst all of the cosmic imagery is a Lamb and its army who conquer through the power of sacrificial love. This 8-week plan is written by the church and for the church as we seek to follow Jesus in the 21st century.
