Choosing Restoration

DAY 3 OF 5

Restoration Is An Act Of God - We Must Actively Participate In It Though

Many times we assume that we must initiate and carry out the work of restoration in our own lives. There are all kinds of remedies and methods for self-care and healing that the world offers which unfortunately don’t last for the long haul. God is the one who restores and when He does it transforms our lives in countless ways for the better. In order for God to restore us though, we must play our part faithfully which will require us to do the following three things:

1. Acknowledge that Jesus is our Shepherd

Like a shepherd knows which patches of grass are best for his sheep, Jesus leads us with great care and compassion. The shepherd protects his sheep from wild animals with his trusty staff and rod. Jesus is our fierce protector when we are assailed by the devil and his forces. No one else can truly feed us based on our individual needs, guide us in every terrain and shield us from danger. Jesus is truly the good shepherd.

2. Find rest in the Father’s love

The Passion translation of Psalm 23 verse 2 says “He offers me a resting place in his luxurious love..”

It is so vital for us to rest in God’s love for us because life will sometimes take the wind out of your sails or knock you down to the floor. If it wasn’t for the consistent reminder of a good God’s love for you you could find yourself plunging into despair or disappointment.

3. Experience the continued anointing of the Holy Spirit

The Passion translation of verse 5 says “You become my delicious feast even when my enemies dare to fight. You anoint me with the fragrance of your Holy Spirit; you give me all I can drink of you until my cup overflows.”

We will not experience personal restoration without the filling of the Holy Spirit. He will help you heal in deeper ways than you even knew you needed healing. He will cause you to emit the fragrance of Christ wherever you go and you will no longer carry the odor of defeat, purposelessness, rejection or bitterness on you!

Think it through:

Who have you looked to for your rescue, guidance and sustenance? Have they been able to fulfill all your needs?

Pray for it:

Ask Jesus to be your Good Shepherd, allow yourself to rest in the Father’s love for you and invite the Holy Spirit to anoint you afresh.
